As some of you may know, I have a baby Black Blood Python.....well, since I got her back in December she has been always been a very finicky and reluctant feeder.....I think she has only ate 2-3 times the whole time I've had her (f/t rat pups).....she is completely healthy otherwise.....well, I decided to give live prey a try today....I went and got a live rat pup and offered it to her a little while ago.....she sniffed it for a second then WHAM! she ate it!!!......I am so very relieved that she ate because she was losing weight and I was very worried about her. Hopefully this is a sign of many more feedings to come. Thanks for reading!

Congrats. I know the feeling of getting a faster back on track, even if it does take a comprimise on the keeper's part.

Great to hear, think you can trick her into f/t?

I think once I get some weight back on her, I won't have any problem converting her onto f/t.....I haven't failed yet, lol.

Congrats David!! It's always a great feeling when the picky ones decide to turn on. Just for future reference with STP's, don't hesitate to resort to live rat pups sooner - it's much easier to convert a solid live feeder to F/T then to expect them to take F/T from the start. Once an STP's characteristic insatiable appetite kicks in & the metabolism of a growing youngster is cranking, turning them on to F/T consistently doesn't take much.

    Just my $.02
