Hmmmm....To list the top ten best pets would be hard because different people look for different things in their pets. But here's a list of what I think are the best ten snakes to suggest to a first-time snake buyer:

    1. Ball python
    2. Gopher
    3. Corn
    4. Children's python
    5. Rosy Boa
    6. Sand boa
    7. Milksnake
    8. African House snake
    9. Kingsnake
    10. Bullsnake

    Re: Fun Questions!

Jotay, ever since some one (you?) mentioned the indigo snakes I have become completely desirous of one. Do you have any idea how difficult the process would be to attain license to own one?? They are just SO beautiful!

    Jack Russel(dog name)

You check with your state wildlife first, some states have bans on them.
Then you contact Federal wildlife to obtain a permit only if you are buying one out of state. That's pretty much it
Here is a web address for a breeder and on the site he has the info and who to contact. I dont think the permit is to costly, but the Indigos are a little pricey 600.00-1500.00

I think they are awesome but get rather large and need a way big cage lots of floor space and climbing.
They say they are so sweet that some will actually curl up and sit on your lap like a puppywhile you watch TV.
I think it was Ironhead who had them as a child and his would sometimes sleep in the bed with them
I have loved them ever since I was about 10yo soon as I get a place with some more space I will have one that's for sure.

Aww, I want one!!! I don't have nearly enough room!!! I dunno that I will ever be able to own one because I know that Nanci is not a fan of such large snakes but man, what a gorgeous snake! And if they are nearly as gentle as proclaimed, how can you go wrong??
