Pretty Good! I like the easy to read text and color of text verses background. I wanted to see more turtle pictures though!!

great layout...not a fan of the brown background though in all honesty....then again I don't care much for the color brown in general so I am a bit biased

To be honest, I am not 100% set on the background color either. I chose the brown because of how well it contrasted with the green font....which I love. We'll see where it goes.... Thanks for your feedback!

I'm liking it. For the brown, you could easily just lighten it up a few shades to a warm brown-ish sort of dark cream (think coffee with a good dollop of creamer) without losing much contrast. I don't mind it, but I like darker backgrounds. The super thin outline around the main icon is a little odd to me, I'd either get rid of it or make it bolder so it looks like it's there on purpose. I'd also probably play with the placement both of the image/logo itself, and where it is/how large it is on the page. Make it a bit smaller so it doesn't take up nearly half the homepage (I'm on a widescreen monitor though, 1280x400 I think? So that might be mussing with it), It probably shouldn't be bigger than 1/3 the screen, it could be smaller but I'm thinking you probably want to keep it as an integral design feature.

Also the placement within the image, you could shift it down so the horizon line (the table edge) is marking the bottom third instead of the middle line, and then you could make the text in the logo a little bigger and more important in the image (although if you placed it like that to get the mirror image of the snake, then that wouldn't work).

...can you tell I went to school with too many web design students? XDD

As others have mentioned, I'd work with the background color and tweak that a bit. As LotusCorvus said, lightening it a few shades would be nice!

One thing I would change has to do with your photos. When I click on them and they're loaded, I look at the image description (lower left hand corner of expanded photo) and I see the file names, such as DSC01935 for your albino or 070 for another. If you can change that description to have one line be the morph name and then the next line be the animal's name, I think that'd be best as far as presentation is concerned.

For example, Mia your albino could be as follows:

    2010 High Contrast Albino female
    Mia

You could also reverse it to be

    Mia
    2010 High Contrast Albino female

Anyways, those are my thoughts on tweaks. I definitely liked the layout and how easy the site was to navigate. Nicely done!

    Tim
