    New Light Tent

Hey all! For Christmas I got a new light tent with lights to go with it. I've also decided to remove the training wheels and start using my DSLR in manual mode... yikes! With a snowstorm in the area, it's given me a day to chill out and play with the settings.

Anyways, I wanted to try out my black background, and after seeing how these photos turned out (no post-processing at all!), I think I'm going to stick with it for at least my hypo photos. I would've taken more photos, but some animals are in shed and others are breeding.

    As always, thanks for looking!

2010 hypo female Bonnie (butterscotch line).

2012 hypo female Ursula. Sire is a Nerd-line orange ghost and mother is an unknown, but compatible, line of hypo.

I wanted to take a photo of them together to compare. It's not exactly fair since they aren't similar in size, but it's still cool looking.

    2011 Lesser Pastel female Envy

    2012 YB male Loki

This is a cool one of him I think.

    2012 CH female Goldy

Beautiful pics. Looks like you found your ideal setup.

I really like the ghost comparison pic. That pastel lesser is one of my favorites. If her head were a little bit more blushed, then she would look like a super pastel lesser.

Those pictures are awesome! Do you recall what your settings were? Nice snakes too, they look great against the black.

Thanks a bunch! I definitely like the variability that's found in hypos (even between the 2012 girl and her sister), so when they're all shed out I'll have to take a complete group shot along with my enchi hypo.

Thanks! I believe you got a Canon Rebel T3i, which is pretty similar to my T2i, so I think you can use these settings to start with and adjust them to suit your needs.

The settings I used for the black background are as follows:

    Shooting mode: Manual
    ISO: 100
    Shutter speed: 1/80
    Aperture: F5.0
    White Balance: Daylight
Picture Style: User defined. I used picture style Faithful and increased the sharpness to 7 to see what that would do.
    Flash: none
    Quality: RAW + 18MP JPEG

Lighting: I used 5 daylight bulbs (approx. 5000K) that have a brightness of 1600 lumens apiece. Three of the bulbs are in Home Depot 10.5" reflectors and two others are in the tabletop lamps I got with the tent. Here's a photo of my setup.

    Thank you!

Well guys, I couldn't do a thread without Enzo... I tried. Here's a photo I just took of him fooling around with his date this evening. Excuse the quality, but I didn't want to bug him too much.
