Hides from reptile basics
So my ball python seems to have outgrown her small hides from reptile basics: http://www.reptilebasics.com/small-hide-box
She can't seem to get herself inside them without one corner popping up from her trying to squeeze herself in there. Yesterday I caught her with her hide sitting on top of her back like a turtle ha.
I have the next size up hides from reptile basics ready to go, which are the medium hides: http://www.reptilebasics.com/medium-hide-box
However these hides seem to be a bit too big for her. They are kind of a big jump in size from the small hides to these medium hides, and these don't seem to hug her body the way the small hides did before she outgrew them. I would like to keep using the reptile basic hides because she seems to really like these; she has been an amazing eater since I have gotten her and has not skipped a single meal. But these medium hides just seem so big.
Those of you who use the hides from reptile basics, did any of you run into this issue? Do you think the medium sized hides are ok for her? I weighed her yesterday and she was about 260 grams.
I actually thought of taping her small hide onto the inside of her medium hide as a way to make it smaller, and this actually seemed to create the perfect sized hide for her; she seems to fit nice and snug in her medium hide now after i did this. Do you guys think this is a good idea?
Thanks in advance for your help! I really want to do my best to make her feel secure and happy

I did the same as what you suggested. But please dont use tape - it can get dangerous.
Just buy a bigger hide and place your small hide inside. That way she can put half her body in it and half of it out but its still under another hide
Or check out some different hides from different shops!

Even though there is some extra room in the next size up, it should be fine. Go ahead and change them out. I do it all the time. If they go off feed, I will move back down to a smaller hide. However, that very rarely happens.

X2 on the tape worries. I have the same problem with Bubbles, she lifts her hide up (the xl size) because of the way she coils. I've tried giving her taller ones, but she doesn't care for them. I think she just likes to feel the ceiling, sometimes our animals are just weird.

If you really feel the need to fill the extra space, just stuff some crumpled newspaper or sphagnum moss into the medium hide until she grows into it.

i just ordered the med hides for my dums. i plan on sticking half of the hide under the substarte (repti bark) to make it shorter since i use about 2 inches of substarte incase she wants to burrow.

Ditto the tape issue! If you really do need to attach something inside the snake's enclosure, use a hot glue gun. Works WONDERS and it isn't permanent.
Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

Alright thanks! Glad to know that sticking one hide into another isn't a bad idea. And no worries I wont use any tape; thanks for the tips!
