My bci, Smoke, just took a chunk outta' my finger. I was doing the nightly routine, changing the water and checking for "deuces" (as eddie would call it), and i'm not really sure what happened exactly. i believe he thought it was feeding time, since technically it is... just haven't had a free minute to get to the store. well in any case, the weird part about the situation... i've been bitten plenty of times by many different species, and never before have i seen this happen, ESP. with a constrictor. when he struck, he didn't latch onto my finger. and no, he didn't miss, his entire mouth got around it... as soon as he grabbed my finger, he released, and QUICKLY crawled into his hide. one single tooth touched my skin, and made a small slit that looks sort of like a paper-cut. anyway, his reaction really boggled me... what cha' think folks?

I am not very familiar with Boas at all but my guess would have to be that if this is the usual feeding time, he probably figured he was gettin his grub & when he realized he bit you instead of a rat, he knew he had bitten the wrong thing. Maybe he felt bad about it?? You take great care of him I am sure. I don't buy the whole bullcrap that scientists try to lay on you that snakes don't have feelings & don't know loyalty.
Life is like a game of poker. You can play each hand to the best of your ability but you are still going to run into a bad beat from time to time. What matters is how you handle it. Do you go on tilt or can you maintain your composure & rebuild your stack?

It seems funny, but if BPs do have feelings, I think some are more "sensitive" than others. My male Goblin basically ignores everything around him and seems to notice nothing, while Octavia is such a shy little thing, getting terrified of the slightest motion.
