Ok , for the past 3 days about 2 - 3 times a day I hear this weird noise coming from my 7 ft female boas enclosure. Its a loud wshhhhhhhh for about 3 -4 seconds and then when i go and put my ear up to it I hear sssssssssssss like a leak in a gas pipe for about 25 seconds. The first noise is almost like something is spraying with a burst of air. Maybe a sneeze or something? Im confused but I always hear it and she has no fluids by her mouth or anything. HELP

Hang in there, Justin. I'm sure our boa experts will respond to this as soon as they're around. I wish I could help more, but I just don't know anything about them.

Do you notice her opening her mouth or gaping? I know big snakes have a tendency to breathe harder/louder, but usually only if they are active around their enclosure I would think. I would definately check her mouth for bubbles or cheesey looking stuff. Also I would check her nostrils for left over shed. Sometimes when their nostrils are blocked it makes that whistling noise, and if you hear it all the time, that could be what it is.

Good luck, hopefully it isn't anything too bad.

Its more than likely just her breathing. Larger snakes make noises like that because their lungs are bigger.

Yeah my 5' BCI exhales real deep once in a while. At first it bothered me (concern) but now after checkin with people and online I've decided to accept it as normal.

Thx, she loves that blanket. Anytime I let her crawl on my bed she makes a B-Line straight for it I've got alot of other pictures of her in cool positions that I"ll link to once I get back to Maryland next week and can upload them to my server.
