I like these dogs too. My dads friend had a pair and the male got out and was missing for something like 2 months. One day he was just in the backyard when he got home from work. So he takes him to the vet for a checkup to make sure he's ok and the vet took x-rays and there were squirrel bones in his stomach! Such a BA dog!

Love that face! I used to work at a horse stable, and I am pretty sure one of the dogs there was part Akita. I loved that dog. If I could have taken her home I would have!
Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

They are amazing dogs. My first I had since grade school, when he passed I bought my wife a puppy for Christmas. When I go to work I have no doubt that my family is safe. Great personalities and fiercely loyal.

I love Akitas, had 3 growing up. IME they create an incredible bond with one person, everyone else they just tolerate. If I was single and had no plans for a family I would get one, most loyal dog I have ever owned.

Just dug up am old pic of two of them.

The one on the left was Kira, the first Akita we owned, she was all about my step-father. The one on the right, only a pup in the pic was Itchy, we were best friends but no one could get too hands on with me because he took it personal, hew grew quite large and personal got really personal if you know what I mean. I used to call him the silent assassin, Akitas dont bark or warn much. He would lie silently behind the backyard fence waiting for the neighborhood cats to make the wrong move, needless to say I cleaned up cat limbs several times. About a year later we got another, her name was Yoko, cant seem to find anymore pics of them.

Thanks for sparking up some great memories!
