Today i was at a pet store near my parent's house & they have a whole huge section of their store dedicated to exotics. One tank had a couple of Baby BP's. I was SO proud of this store!! Right on the outside of the tank (& actually for ALL of their snakes) is an info sheet & on the info sheet it says "Feeding on thawed/frozen mice. DO NOT feed live mice! If the snakes get bit, they may never feed. Feeding live is dangerous. Also, if you purchase them, give them plenty of time to adjust to their new surroudings & give them some time to start feeding before beginning your handling sessions." It was SO great to see that these people actually know what the hell they are doing! All of the snakes had aspen bark for substrates, all of the tanks had AT LEAST two hides, all of them had water bowls that were PLENTY big enough & all of the tanks had one humid hide in them as well! It was so refreshing to see!!

That's a rarity. Hard to come by a petstore that's doing it right. We have one here that does a pretty good job actually. He's a bit proud of his stuff and it shows in the prices. But his animals are quality and he's got them setup right for the mostpart. Except the tarantulas. I still haven't run into a petstore that doesn't put friggin' cotton in the water dishes. Never ceases to upset me.
I digress....
Glad you found a petstore that seems to know what they're doing. Tell them! Positive feedback can only encourage them to keep up the good work.

Drives me crazy too Marcus!!
Eddie Z I am glad you came across a good pet store! It is refreshing once in a while to see some folks care about what they sell.

Eddie, that's great! Was this a chain shop or a local shop? From what I see, local shops tend to be the ones at the extremes of the spectrum, both the best and the worst in caring for their animals.
3.1.1 BP (Snyder, Hanover, Bo Peep, Sir NAITF, Eve), 1.2.3 Rhacodactylus ciliatus (Sandiego, Carmen, Scooby, Camo, BABIES ), 1.0 Chow (Buddha), 0.2 cats (Jezebel, PCBH "Nanners"), 0.3 humans

PM me the site name and location, they might be interested in our new program headed by freakoverdose to get the caresheet in pet stores. I only have about a week and a half left of work before it's ready.

It's always good to hear those rare reports! Our local store (which is actually part of a small chain of stores) does a pretty decent job with all their reptiles, too. My only complaint for them, really, is the enclosures are usually smaller than ideal, but of course the animals aren't intended to spend their whole lives in them. I think it's worth paying slightly higher prices to support a store that's doing a good job.
Maybe you could put the name of your petstore down in the "Inquirey" forum. That way anyone local to your area will know who to look for.

Plated tail...
I will have to get all of the specifics on the store for you. I know that it is a local store but I have to get the address & stuff like that for ya. I was really happy about the way these people ran their reptile department.
