As of this morning our basement had about a foot of water in it... after running two pumps all day it's down to about 4 inches. I'm sure some of you other north shore people have been having the same problem!

Aw man - bummer. Reminds me of the Hurricane Andrew aftermath - cleaning all that up is a royal pain. It's definitely cool you can maintain a sense of humor through that though!

Yeah we're kind of used to cleaning this stuff up every year, we live at the bottom of a huge hill so everytime the snow melts we get a few inches of water... nothing like this though! Through years of experience, we've learned to keep important things high up.

Hehe - that's what I did with about 7 guitars I was rebuilding/refinishing to sell (inhcluding this sweet Les Paul) - wrapped em in plastic and blankets and put em in the attic. Andrew rolled in and the storm swell covered everything BUT the attic - which got shredded right off. I imagine they got sucked right out past the mangroves into the gulf stream

Ouch! Man, I'm glad I've never had to deal with a real natural disaster! I'd be a giant wimp... It was kind of fun to watch little cars try to ford the "river" in this parking lot my sister and I were in last night... I've never seen something like that in person! Luckily we had my mom's truck and we made it home without getting swamped and stalling.

you lost seven guitars including a les paul? I'm afraid I would still be in mourning... I'm a guitarist .. not a very good one but I really want to get an ES 335 that sucks that you lost them all!! And Lindsay that really stinks about all the water .. we live in a low area in Illinois and because there are so few... a big rainstrom will usuall throw a couple inches in the basement. Good luck getting it all back to normal!

Oh, I am sorry about your Les Paul. I have mine locked in my house, I love it so much. it is the most expensive thing we own, including our vehicle, lol.

Thanks for the condolences lol. It was not in the best shape and I had not started refinishing it. Most of what I was working on had neck or body damamge, sometimes nothing more than tuners, bridges or fuxxored electronics. It woulda come out nice touhg - a lovely tobacco sunburst. The Rich Bich and Warlock (both NJ series) were tough to lose as I had just sunk some money into new active electronics and floyd rose dbl locking setups. Among the others an old threadbare telecaster, a peavy and a kramer - the rest I get confused with projects I had completed.

Now I have a Montana acoustic (it only cost $300 but even all beat up it has the richest mellowest sound I've heard out of an acoustic) and a Gibson acouostic/electric (DAMN nice - accidentally shipped to me instead of a $150 Epiphone SG we bought as a christmas present for our son). I kept my mouth shut and just ordered another SG. No more amps of my own anyway - quieting down in my dotage.

I picked up a copy of "Lamentations" DVD this weekend - DAYMN it sets the standard for any kind of live release (audio or video) - highly reccomended and only $10-14. After watching it I spent the rest of the weekend trying to pick my jaw up off the floor - musical craftsmanship at its finest - even the documentary was amazing.
