We spent all day yesterday at the Wildlife Summit meeting for our State Fish & Game department. The purpose of the meeting was for F&G staff, professionals & concerned citizens to discuss the most pressing issues concerning New Hampshire wildlife (habitat loss & fragmentation due to development, and all the issues that result) and how funding will be allocated to help "solve" the problem. While we were there, we met an individual who is extremely interested in our rattlesnake reintroduction program & is willing to allow us to use a former densite on private property as a starting point. It's pristine habitat & used to have a decent Timber population until they were exterminated about a decade ago. Best part? The private property is bordered by a state park, as well as a Nature Conservancy easement, so it's now a protected area.

Needless to say, this is just the tip of the iceberg for this project and we have an extremely long road ahead of us in raising a future population of these animals, but man oh man are we excited!!!!

    Just had to share.
