I read somewhere that when your BP starts cruisin the tank with purpose, as though it is lookin for sumthin, that it might indeed be hunting around for some food. My Hissy has only been here for not even two weeks yet & has had some stress with our visit to the vet on tuesday but she really seems to be flyin around the tank at nite & firing that tongue in every direction.

So, i was figuring, since my f/t's won't be here for another week, at least, would it be a good idea to try to feed her a fresh killed?? I mean really, can it hurt to try? If she doesn't take it, she doesn't take it. But I'll be darned if she doesn't look hungry to me. Then again I am a fat dude so hunger is sumthin i see an awful bunch! LOL!

well if you can I would try to find a frozen thawed locally just because a your bp might realize she likes the fresh killed better, setting you back in the f/t conversion process. Otherwise waiting another week may just make her more hungry and more willing to take that f/t when it arrives

Yeah, it is gunna be a tough conversion process anyways because the idiots that i got her from used to feed her live "thumped" mice. The thing that worries me so much about waitin & has me all antsy about it is that the vet told me she is a little thin for her length. Lookin at some pictures that i have been lookin at i can see that he is absolutely correct! I wanna get some food in her tummy! I am hopin that it will help to calm her down a bit too

I've only had Pauliocho for a month, but I feed him weekly, I even fed him the night he came home. I look for him to show me that's he's hungry. Like you are saying with Hissy, he cruises the tank looking for food. I don't know that a fresh killed will put you back seeing as she is used to fresh killed. I know with Pauliocho, after he digests he's like a well fed puppy, justs wants to sit there and be held when he's out. So my advice is to feed he now and work on the ft when you feed her next. Besides, if she doesn't eat the fresh killed, throw it in the freezer and try again.

Eddie, most Petco stores carry mousicles, but you have to ask for them. In my store, they're in a freezer tucked between reptiles dept. and fish dept. If you have a Petco, it is certainly worth asking them. It won't hurt him to wait a week, but if he's cruising then you certainly could try feeding.

I concur with everyone. If you think she's ready to eat, then by all means, give it a try. Waiting a week is just a guideline, not a life-or-death rule. Check out any pet store in the area that sells herps or herp supplies. Many of them keep at least a small stock of frozen rodents.
