    Newbie here

    Hello all,
I recently got into balls after getting a female normal for my youngest son. Soon after my oldest son wanted his own so we got him a male mojave. Of course now I want one so I have a female butter on the way. The wife doesn't want to be left out so we are looking at a 100% het hypo spider. My question is, what does the het hypo mean? Also, what does that do for the offspring? I would like to eventually breed the spider x butter and gets some butter bees. Does the het hypo affect the outcome in anyway? Thanks.

it means that it carries a gene for a recessive morph (in this case hypo) for more info checkout this thread: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...Basic-Genetics

If you breed the spider 100% het hypo to a butter the potential offspring would be as follows:

    1/4 normal

    1/4 butter

    1/4 spider

    1/4 butterbee

All of the offspring would be considered 50% het hypo. what this means is that each hatchling will have a 50% chance of having the het hypo gene. and a 50% chance of not carrying it at all. There won't be any visible difference between a snake that is het for hypo and one that is het for hypo.
