    Oh no! Respiratory Infection!

Ok so some of you know I got a RTB off Craig's list and it turned into a rescue. Well not only did she have a bunch of stuck shed on her tail which squished it. Now she has a RI! I got the vet booked on Monday but until then what can I do for this poor girl?

By the way this explains why she has been crabby with me since I got her.
    Thanks in advance!

You should bump up her heat a bit and completely cover the bottom of the tub with heat so she cant escape it. There's really only so much you can do and the best option is to get a culture and the correct meds prescribed by the doctor. They will probably give you something like baytril while they wait for the results. You can search the forums theres soooooo many ri posts at your disposal. I like this one allot http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...tory+infection

Personally I would not take away the ability to thermoregulate. I might add a touch to the ambient air temps but that is it. Vet culture and see what results come back. There is not much else to do.

I have been told of a respiratory aid that who knows it might help or do nothing but it won't hurt. A friend and zoo keeper told me about it. To place a live healthy catnip plant in the enclosure. catnip has been used to easy respiratory issues and dilate bronchial tubes it also adds oxygen to the enclosure. It maybe worth a try to help ease the symptoms a touch.

Good luck Kevin and let us know how the vet visit goes. Are you going to the one on post by the PX or are you going off post somewhere? I ask because I don't have a herp vet in C/S yet.

Most pet stores should sell live catnip plants, probably even menards/home depot/lowes whichever is in your area, cant say for sure but i would bet. If that is something that works any id love to know just in case. I grow catnip for my cat.

I often grow it for my pet rats and they love it... wait is it the catgrass or catnip? Catnip is a plant wit nettle like leaves, cat grass is tender crisp grass blades..?
