I have my new 20-inch-ish redtail last night! I am so thrilled by him. I am going to lay off for awhile and let him get used to his setup. Please critique it for me... it is:

-29-gallon long glass tank with taped-on glass lid
-2 hidespots, hollowed-out logs that he can fit into snugly but not tightly, one on either end of tank. I'll be adding a humid-hide today; sound like a good idea? Or only needed during a shed?
-1 heatpad under tank, heating warm side to around 89 degrees on top of substrate. It's on a rheostat to regulate it.
    -Aspen substrate, 2 inches deep
-1 waterbowl, half inch deep by 5 inches wide, changed every morning
-1 sanitized deer antler to climb on, he seems to love it.

I do not have a light for the tank, because I read that this is a nocturnal snake and harsh light was not a good idea.
Thanks, you guys are great! I can have pics of him tomorrow.

Sorry, but it sounds all wrong. You'd better Fed Ex me the snake and the whole set up right away. I'll get it straightened out for you and send it back in 20 years or so.

Congrats yet again! The setup sounds great! I think you can use moss in your humid hide when he/she is getting ready to shed. I think you are supposed to change out the moss everyother day when they go into shed mode. I'm still a novice and I'm sure experienced members will correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey man your setup is awesome dont worry. But you can have a light dont worry.....also a humid hide isnt neccesary. When my boa is about to shed I simply mist her a few times a day

Got any pics? I simply looove baby RTB's...so adorable arent they?
