    purple passions

I have 8 eggs from a phantom x mojave. they are due to hatch around aug 19. I been candling them and 3 are still growing pink. I think that they should be purple passions.
I have them marked and will know soon if this also works with a phantom x mojave breeding. has anyone candled for purple passions or mystic potions and had any luck telling before they hatched?

Don't mean to rain on your parade but don't get too excited, color always comes in last! Good luck though!

Yeah color does come in last, so it's hard to say. You can always cut them before they pip to find out...

The only time I have heard of people being able to get an idea of whats in an egg before it hatched were BELs and high white pieds. I have never heard of this with passions and potions. However I would love to see the results of this clutch! Good luck!

    Re: purple passions

I have candled albinos, and bels clutches before. was able to tell on those before they hatched. albinos about day 35 and the bels were harder and around day 45. I have 8 phantom to mojave eggs. 5 are dark and 3 are glowing pink like the albinos and bels do. I know the color comes in last, I do cut eggs, but I wait until they are about ready to pip. I'm 100% correct when I candle like this (many clutches), but this is the first for the phantom x mojave clutch. I will post pics for everyone and the results. this site is about learning and that's why I posted this. fingers cross, don

    Re: purple passions

cut the eggs on 8/16 and the three I had marked are purple passions. I'll get pics up as soon as they poke their heads out. this also proves out my male phantom!

    Re: purple passions

Here are some pics of them still in the egg, 1, 2 , 3 are the passions and 4, 5 are mojaves or phantoms and 6, 7, 8 I think are normals. won't know for sure until they come out of the egg. didn't want to bother them too much. thanks for looking. the one in the last pic has a little bit of an attitude!
