Well, I hate to show how stupid I am, but hopefully someone will learn from my mistake, and avoid making it themselves. For those of you who have/will have heat tape under your enclosures, please make sure you leave an airspace, LIKE THE DIRECTIONS SAY. If you don't, and you decide to put a thin piece of sheet metal over the top of the heat tape, (to spread the heat out over a larger area under the rubbermaid) you will end up with this:

I hereby bestow upon myself the Stupid Person of the Month Award!

Write up a small article about your experience with that, and the dangers. I'll add it to medical.

That's terrible, Randy! Did anybody get hurt? I hope not, or that the burns are minimal.

Well, if something had to get wounded in the process, that's what I'd pick! I'm glad everyone's ok. I'd think you could use foil tape on the bottom of the enclosures to spread the heat out a bit while still keeping the recommended airspace, for what it's worth.

Oh man! That sucks! And I just bought a roll of foil tape to do that to...I haven't checked to see if I did, if there would be an airspace or not. Well, I guess now I'll double check. I'm glad you caught it, and nothing really bad happened. Did that shut off your controller or the tape when that happened?

Thanks for sharing that, Randy! A valuable lesson learned at a bargain price!
