Dang, thats an interesting pattern there. How old is "she"? If it's over three months ya sure it's a she?

Yes, "she" is over 3 months. I'm not 100% sure that it is a she either - do you think it's a boy?

Bout 60% sure. I could be about 75% sure with some more pics. But with sexing a bp via pics it's not too accurate. Looks male tho.

I'll get you some more pics. I think "he" or "she" is about 18 - 24 months old. How long should the female spikes be around that age? I also thought she was a girl cause he tail was tapered of very quickly (like a stub).

If thats a mouse it is eating it must be at most 6-7 months old... Unless it's a runt or something.
Stubby tails typically mean it mighta lost part. The best way to tell is if the tail goes into a direct slant after the anus. If the tail shrinks fast and is reall skinny and long, probly female. If I could show you the diff between my male and female you'd see. It's real slight. But if it's really thin and long it's probly female. Head/neck size is what made me think it's make.
It's best to sex them when real young or complete adult. You're usually screwed if it's a juvi. Probing is a sure way for any age tho.

I may have to disagree with you there. I have an 8 month old bp (Caesar) and his tail is exactly what you described. I know he's a male because not only did I probe him, he is producing sperm. That's why they say the only ACCURATE way to sex a snake is to have it probed; or if it is very young (2 weeks old or less) it can get popped to sex it. On a species like rattlesnakes, you can accurately sex them 85% of the time by looking at the length of their tail. Just not the case with most boids.
Anyway, great looking ball python!

Yip, very tough. Thats why I said I could only be 75% sure. There are a lotta physical characteristics that can help, but like you said, individuals vary.

I know she's at least 1 year old, since that's how long I've had her...she was probably 6-7 months when I got her.
About the mice, the're only a little bit smaller than her middle-should I up the size??
Is there a place where I could see the differences in tales?

Definitely, my male was taking mice that size at 4 months.
I think google might give you results on the tails, doubtful. Maybe someone here has a good digi and could help.
