Exclamation [URGENT]Hamster on CL that has wet tail

    http://pensacola.craigslist.org/pet/3167205567.html
I'm considering taking him in and taking him to the vet and then rehoming him, but I'm curious about how much the vet bills will be.

Hamsters are considered 'exotic' in terms of veterinary medicine. Based on my experience with exotic vets, the office visit alone can be around $50-60.
To treat wet tail, the vet will prescribe antibiotics. So lets say $10-15.
They may prescribe anti-diarrheal medications or fluids as well. That may be another few dollars each.
Meds in general aren't expensive. It's the office visit and tests that are expensive.

I just remembers my vet won't be here until next friday (he lives out of town and only comes one day a week)
I was recommended this from yahoo! answers

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=4186111
(wasn't going to buy it from petsmart)
Several people said this works exceptionally well, unlike dri tail.
    Can anyone back this up?

I wouldn't even take him to a vet, Nikki hit the nail on the head. When I took my Guinea pig to an exotic vet for a small abcess it was almost $100 altogether. (He drained it, gave him an antibiotic shot, and gave me a small bottle of baytril to give him orally for 10 days). I used to work at Petsmart and we used the Oasis drops with good results with wet tail. Our gerbils were notorious for getting it. As long as you catch it early enough it should work just fine.

Is a week considered "early on"?

If he's still eating/drinking and not acting lethargic then yes. But you haven't acquired him yet so there's no way to tell.
