    Hi guys
    Does anyone here keep roaches?
    If so what kind,
At the moment we have about 60 to 100 hissers. We use them as feeders, and it has worked out well. We also bring an adult male and female to educational shows to show people that there fear about roaches is not always needed. It actually works well!
Anyhow I am thinking of getting some diff. species to breed for feeders etc, and was wondering if anyone here had experience with them
    Thanks

Hissers are way cool. I was going to get 1 or 2, but got discouraged when I saw the price for just 1 in a local petshop. Not to sound mean. but I have paid plenty for snakes and other critters..but a bug- a roach from Madagascar..hope I am not mistaken on thier origin. Anyhow, sorry I could not help on answering you q about different species, but I may know where you can get more info though, let me look, and if it pans out, I will post info for you to get help on that. I think someone I know on another forum raisers different roach species.

I bred Lobster Roaches for a while as feeders for my geckos....and let me tell you, they are PROLIFIC like a mofo! Insanely easy to breed/ keep.....but they can climb glass so you gotta be careful.

yeah, the hissers in the petshops can run you about ten dollars, that (in my opinion) is assanine! We got our batch of 12 donated and not sexed. If you think about how many animals we feed the bugs to (geckos, monitors, tarantulas and so on) you can just imagine how prolific they are! We feed them off all the time, including the adults to the monitors and they still grow up fast and make lots o' babies!
they do climb the glass so you have to put a ring of bike grease around the top rim of the tank. But they do eat all the stumps and left over vegies from our veggie eaters bowls, so It's a nice "garbage disposal" system.
Yeah, I have heard (I think I saw them online) of different species that don't climb, those would be what we would be most interested in.
    Thanks

I know someone who breeds hissers for all his geckos, I'll try and show this to him.
