Vigo is 20 inches and 6 months old (my baby!!) How often should he eat? And are there any behaviour characteristics that indicate he's hungry??
Thanks!!
Diana
BTW:
Thanks for all your help folks! Vigo's tank is now warm and cozy thanks to all of your input. Have a dome light for day and a heating pad for the evening. 85 on the warm end...around 75 for the cool. He comes out to play at night and is a frisky, curious, playful little fellow. He likes to play peek-a-boo!!! Well..he is a baby you know!!!!!!!!!
Sigh...I think I have a happy snake!

Hi,
My Rex is only about 2 inches longer, so we're probably dealing with snakes of a similar stage of development.
I'm feeding every 5-6 days, (7 if the last meal was big). I notice that he "prowls" his tank alot around day 4 or 5 after a meal. Not your usual "looking for an exit" prowling, but a lot of tongue flicking, slow and careful exploration. To my non-reptilian eye, it sure looks like he's looking for something to eat.
I usually wait a day or so after I see this behavior (you don't want to overfeed) and he takes the mice like a champ when I offer them.
Hope it helps. Happy herping.

Every 5-7 days is the recommendation. My little guy seems to cruise extensiviely the night before the feeding.

Mine does the exact thing, he moves around every night, but the night before feeding is much more active.

Mine does the exact samething, but there is one sure way that he "tells" me that he is hungry. Zeus has a tendency to ay in his hidebox with his head at or just outside the opening of the hidebox. Then when I come to lookin on him he moves out of his hidebox a little and watches my every movement.
