Last time we had winter weather like this, the town froze and we lost power for several days. What should I do if this happens again? Thanks in advance...

LOL Randy..I read this on another forum that you can use those 20+ hour heat packs that they use for shipping to heat the cages. Sounded logical enough to me... I would give it a try, buy like 10 of them so in case the power outtage lasts awhile, you're set..

Other suggestions I've heard: use a kerosene heater to heat the room or buy a UPS rated at least 3x the total wattage of all your heaters for your snakes.
Ball Python, Bredl's Carpet Python, Kenyan Sand Boa, Saharan Sand Boa
Mexican Black King, California King, Snow Corn, Okeetee Corn, Everglades Ratsnake

They're calling for it here in my area so look's like it's gonna be fun. NOT!! Good thing I heat with gas, at least I will still have heat in the house. We allready have about a 1/4 inch of the ice so far. FIgured I better get on here and do my stuff before we lose power.
Keep the Herps and yourself warm guy's.

haha. you guys read my mind. i was wondering last night what do i do if ther is a power outage like we normally have. i figured the cage would retain the heat for awhile and then hold it itil the the power is back. my house is heated with gas but i cant raise the temp to 84* for the snake. my parents would kill me. and make my pay the bill. when me power goes out its normally for 1-2 days. i think ill go out and buy some of those heat packs. where exactly could you get some? the local drugstore?

You can get them anywhere. I got mine at Walmart, I'm sure you can get them at a regular drug store (I don't think I've seen them in grocery stores like Albertsons).
LOL Mike, I was thinking the same thing, good ol' Arizona... ..Hey at least it's a DRY heat in the summer, and not HUMID..

I've seen them at Wal-Mart too and I'm sure you could get them at a sports store, I use them in my snowboard boots and I've picked them up at sports places. If you run into an emergency and have no heat source at all, I've heard some people will start the car in the driveway and sit in the heated car with the herps for a while... I don't know though, taking reptiles outside probably isn't a great idea.
