I came home today at about 5pm, and my bp was already moving about his cage plotting his escape. I got to see him drink some water! That was pretty neat to see. Anyway, he has been yawning a lot. At one point he kind of yawned and then closed his mouth slightly, leaving it partially open. He had it open for about 5 seconds. Kind of looked like a crocodile. Ha! It took me all of this time to get to the actual question. Is he opening his mouth a lot because he is hungry? I tried feeding him a couple days ago and he turned his nose up. Thanks,

    Jeremy

they always yawn. i thought it was crazy when i go my first one. but they are just stretching their jaw muscles. its not weezing or anything is it? open mouth breathing is a symptom of a bad RI. but if its not weezing or making alot of popping noise when it breaths then its ok. i think will and pimp-n-python both have pictures of yawning snakes. i cant help but think of how silly they must have looked just waitng for the snake to open its mouth. haha.

The yawning is actually the snake adjusting its jaw. Their jaws unhinge completely so that they can take in large prey and they have to realign them periodically, especially after eating.

He isn't weezing or anything. Just realigning I suppose. It is fascinating to see it though.
