BPnet Veteran
Hi Folks,
Tonight was the second installment of the transition to f/t for Rex. Just like the first time, s/he killed and ate a small live mouse, and then I gave him/her a fresh p/k mouse, which went down quickly.
That's 2 weeks in a row of taking p/k after live without a hitch.
One more week like this, and then I'll try the p/k first. I plan to keep the 2nd mouse live, in case Rex won't take the p/k 1st. If s/he takes the p/k, I'll dispatch the 2nd mouse also.
Sound like a plan?
Thanks,
Ken

TRansition update
After HOURS of work today, i firmly believe that any bp will take p/k. Peanut finally ate one that was dead...

Thats great news, guys! Keep up the good work! The switch is definitely gonna make things easier on both you and the snakes.

Congrats to Rex and Peanut! That's great. I like my meat to be dead first, too.

Well that is not true because i tried p/k with my 3 year old BP and he wouldn't eat it one bit and the change over from a mouse to a rat didn't bother my Caa one bit. But he wont eat a p/k at all has to be live. Just wanted to put my 1 cent in. Thanks Aaron

Yup...it just takes time and effort, sometimes lots, sometimes less. Depends on the individual snake.
What kind of cage are you housing your BP in? What kind of heat source are you using? Check out this link for a short run-down of how I house my BPs.....its not perfect, but I never have any humdity or temp problems and all of my snakes are healthy as a horse, lol:
