    Questions about Daytona

I haven't been to the Reptile Breeders Expo in Daytona since 2008. It was one of my first reptile shows and i remember it being huge. I have no idea what the # of vendors was at that time.

I'm seriously considering getting a group of friends together and making the 10 hr drive from NC to Daytona this year. I'm looking to add a couple new bp's to my collection and would like to see what the bigger vendors have in person.

Is the show as good as it was a few years ago? I've heard there are less vendos now...how much smaller is it? Does the quality of animals/vendors make up for the lack of tables at the show? I've also never been to the Tinley Park NARBC show...how does that compare? Just looking for your opinions. Thanks

I went the past two years and thought it was huge!! I would definately drive 10 hrs to go especially if I some money to spend. Unfortunately I am now across the country now...sigh..I have never seen so many different morphs ever and most with crazy prices!!! Please take pictures if you decide to go

    Re: Questions about Daytona

Thanks, I just didn't want to drive there and spend the night to find out that it is no bigger than a repticon. When I went 4 years ago, it was awesome. None of the big breeders come to our local shows

Daytona is not what it used to be sadly many of the big names have not attended in a few years.

Many have hope that this show http://www.myrtlebeachreptileexpo.com/ will become the new Daytona.

It's only it's second year but since the state is more herp friendly than Florida is there is good hope.

Deborah, I almost went to that show last year. I heard good things and was suprised to see a few bigger names like BHB were there. I was told that the bigger names were there because they were trying to make it the new Daytona, just like you said. But there are breeders like Mike Wilbanks, Brock Wagner, and others that I would love to see that go to Daytona. Maybe they'll come to Myrtle Beach this year.

Any other opinions? Still worth the drive to Daytona? I'll probably go anyway, but would love to hear what others think of the show lately.

Daytona is MUCh smaller than it was. The first year I went, Daytona was a huge main room, plus vendors set up in exterior hallways. Now, Daytona is one of the smaller "arena" rooms(maybe for basketball?) and no exterior hallways. I'd guess it is now 1/4 the size of my first trip there.

It's a grand show, I always attend it, I intend to continue attending it, but I live close enough to make it a daytrip.

If you decide to come down, make sure to post in the Daytona thread that gets started near time for the show. I would love to meet more BP.netters.

I'll be there this year! Not as a vendor, but as a spectator.

Skip Daytona it's not what it used to be. Not worth the 10 hour drive anymore!
