Combining that with what Casey supposedly said about "knowing the law due to being in similar situations before" leads me to believe that the homeowners have had to deal with similar situations before.
Question to the OP: how old is casey and were the homeowners her parents? Just kinda curious...

You better believe that if someone has something that's mine without permission, I will show up to their house and "bully" them till I get it back. That's called stealing and in my opinion, stealing is a worse offense than bullying.
It is unclear what the legal relationship is between Casey and the property owners. It is absolutely false that a renter does not have control over who comes and goes and that a landlord (or property owner) has such authority. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind would sign a lease that says otherwise. I don't even know if such a lease would even be legal.
It does sound like she may be just renting a room which may change her rights from a whole house rental but it still doesn't mean she automatically gives up all rights entirely to determine who comes and goes.

The situation is that it is a home someone owns, with casey renting a bedroom and sharing the rest of the space. The homeowners have every right to say who comes and goes through the shared space.

Folks, I think the real topic at hand in this thread has little to do with who might have drawn a hypothetical weapon in a hypothetical situation that they themselves were not in. I'm as quick to debate the Second Amendment and personal protective rights as anyone, but let's save those discussions for the QT.

The homeowners welcomed her into their part of the house. A living room or foyer im assuming. Then casey retreated to the basement (her part of the house). The OP didnt say they chased her into the basement, they tried to have her come up and talk to them. Then they called the police.
This is how i read it, though i could be reading it wrong...

You read it mostly right...except that the basement is also shared space....that's why she ultimately ran away up to her bedroom

I think folks are really losing sight of the issue here. Obviously the homeowners, AND police, saw no issues with who was in the house.
The issue here is that it appears that someone stole something from someone else.

If it's true, that's a real scumbag move.
Somehow, I'm not surprised.
She's quick with opinions any other time. Where is she now?

Hey Casey, I'm about to get involved. You KNOW what that's going to do to you if you're lying right?
I'll give you until tomorrow morning before I start asking questions here and maybe over on fauna. At the very least your reputation, which has been pretty stellar up until today, isn't going to be worth a crap.
Admit the mistake, since it really seems like you made one, and move on. Don't shoot yourself in the foot over a mouse.

^ right over a mouse. What a crap situation. I would definately want what was owed to me as well. The fact that she's going to such extremes is a little off. Hopefully you can get this resolved.

I wouldn't have made such a huge deal over this myself (it is "just a mouse"...but to be fair, it is a very valuable mouse since it is one of only 5 of its variety in the entire country) if it wasn't for the fact that as soon as I started saying anything about this to other people in the mouse community, I started getting stories from other people with bad dealings from casey. One person has posted on fauna already about sick animals she recieved from casey. I've heard other sick animal stories and non-payment stories from other people.....who had been keeping quiet b/c it is "just mice"
