  My male Ball Python Cypher managed to escape from his enclosure two nights ago.I was laying in bed and I DID hear some scratchy sounds coming from his and Trinity's home but I was really tired and did not get up to investigate. In any case I believe that is when he was making a break for it.I discovered him missing the next morning.I have literally torn my apartment to hell trying to find him.Do any of you have any suggestions as to whether or not I will ever see him again?? he is hiding somewhere and hiding is what Ball Pythons do best.My main man at Repto-mania told me that if he found a place that he likes he might just shut down for the winter and stay there for months!!!! at the advice of a friend in the hobby I am putting out a bowl of water and a thawed rat to see if I could possibly entice him out into the open.My greatest fear is that he may have figured out some way to get OUT of my apartment alltogether in which case he is probably history.I have raised him from a little hatchling and he has always been a real rascal of a snake. My mom wants to buy me a new hatchling female BP but I am mourning the loss of my Cypher...if he is indeed gone for good.I am not sure I want to start up fresh with a new specimen. It has been a lot of work and love raising Cypher and making sure he fed and grew. Well, I am open to any suggestions on all of this as you guys and gals have been good sources of advice on my snakes...RP Plank...you got any ideas...????? :? :?

Dang, John, sorry to hear about your escape!
I have had many escapes, and I have always found them relatively quickly. All of my escapees were found within about 10' of their cage, so concentrate on that area first. Inside dressers, under beds, inside beds, etc. I found one guy about halfway up the backside of the refrigerator, curled up in the coils, which were warm. I have had better luck searching at night, and have also stumbled across some of them by accident. One I found before I knew he got out!
Just look, look, look! You will find him! Try to think like a BP. Where would you go from his cage if you got out, and how would you get there?

Good luck, and keep us updated!
    Randy

If you disagree with what someone else is suggesting, you can say so without being argumentative or completely slamming the guy (or girl)." - Smynx
