woo hoo im off for a vacation

I just picked up an amazon tree boa tonight.. It's a male, about 5'5" long adult.

The owner before me said he NEVER held him once since he got him (in January last year). That's pretty sad if ask me. Anyway, it's my first arboreal, and you have to start somewhere; considering I want breeding colonies of chondro's one day. He is actually VERY tame for never being held. I'm lovin' it.

Here are a few quick shots I took of him; sorry for the blurriness; these lttle guys don't like stayin' still!

    Enjoy,
    Jennifer

Well, I was told he is an adult. I have also heard that they usually are inbetween 4-5 feet fully grown, but in captivity can reach up to 7 feet. So who knows if he is done growing or not; considering I don't know his exact age. I guess we'll see.

He's definately a beaut I think imma get atleast one, probably two more BP's in the next couple months and have them for a while before i venture into other hyp's.

I'd be interested to know how long urs gets just so I have a reference. 4-8 feet I don't think would be THAT big of a deal to handle... but when u get to 12+' boa's that could take some serious space up.

For now he is in just a tall rubbermaid with 3 perches and paper towels. I'm going to do the whole display thing when I get my own place. I'm kinda packed in around here nowadays...lol..

Like I just wrote elsewhere in a forum, you got some brass ones! ATB's are notoriously snappy, and you handle it after it hasn't been handled for a year! Good score! Keep us updated....I have been considering an arboreal for quite some time, but I just don't know that I have the time to devote to their care.

Kind of, yeah. He won't be too hard to take care of, with my brass ones, hehe.... J/K! I've done research, and with enough time, it won't be difficult, at all.
