    Good Fish and aquarium forum?

Hey guys! I'm about to buy a small 10g aquarium to start a small freshwater community, but I would like to get all the info I can before doing so. And seeing how much this forum helped me to prepare for my BP, I know there has to be a forum this good for fishes and stuff.

    Thanks

Just a little off topic, but what about a bit bigger tank, and African Cichlids? (Sp?). They are really cool fish. Some fish tanks can be rather boring as there isn't a lot of activity in them. These guys are always active, and boldly colored as well.

Salt water tanks are beautiful. But expensive and alot of work. Make sure you post pics of whatever you do.

Most salt water tanks are beautiful, but they are a royal pain in the rear. And why a 10g (for now)? Well because after cleaning my room, I found a spot where a 10g one fits PERFECTLY right there. And I like tropical fishies

Besides... I just spent almost $2,000 on guitar amps and gear

Can't speak about saltwater communities, but in my experience there are no really good freshwater communities. They all have major drawbacks. Plenty of old members willing to dispense bad advice because, I can only guess, they feel they must be seen answering everything. And an abundance of new members just as willing to regurgitate advice about something they just heard about 10 minutes ago and don't really understand yet.

I've also noticed that the rest of the community rarely corrects these members because they carry weight, so everyone just assumes they know what they're talking about.

The result is you get misinformed with shoddy advice.

For aquariums, your best bet is to pick up some books and read it straight from the leading sources, and then supplement it with a bit of forum-browsing to understand the more current and modern approaches and equipment a little better.

Baensch Aquarium Atlas Volume 1 is a great place to start.

If it's planted tanks you're into, there's loads of great people on aquatic plant central.
