Just a question????...Can if your BP has been alone for so long is it possible to give him a friend in the same tank?...

Put them together for short periods of time out of the cage for a while and see how they are around eachother. Then make your decision based on that.

Of course, we must keep in mind that it should NEVER be recommended to keep two snakes in the same cage. EVEN if they seem to be getting along (i.e: curl up with eachother). This causes unneeded stress, and how would you know which one is "doing its business"? What if one was sick, then you would automatically have two vet bills instead of one. They could easily have bad sheds or go off feed if they get stressed. Do you have two BP's in two separate enclosures and you want them to be put in the same cage? I would just keep it how it is if that is the case. Just a thought, but again it is up to you. Please make your choice wisely.

If you don't mind me asking (and I'm not attacking anyone here, it's just a question) but by who were you lead to believe it was okay?

I know a lot of people that house many bp's together. They all seem to do fine.

I know different things work for different people, that is why my statements are opinions that I was lead to believe are true from research and some experiences. I'm not trying to make a fuss over anything, if that is what it looked like. I believe you people know what you are doing, other wise you wouldn't have such a love for the creature to be members of its own named website I'm only trying to pass on material for those who want the basic questions answered.

Just my $.02...

Ball pythons are not social animals...they do not need friends...

Keeping 2 animals in the same enclosure puts both at a high risk of cross-contamination (even if both animals are healthy, you never know when something unexpected can pop up), and also makes it difficult to keep accurate records on each snake.

Everyone has a different approach to snake keeping...this is mine.
