    Question about feeding

Does anyone know the ages of rat pinkies, hoppers, pups ect? I live in Quebec and I haven't found any pet store that knows what I'm talking about. They all go by weeks or XS - S - M - L or XL. I've tried to look it up and can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Right now both my snakes are around 8 months old and 280g. I'm feeding small rats (according to the store) that have a little bit of fur (they're fuzzy). I feed them every 7 days... should I bump it up to 5 days? Sometimes they'll eat one rat other times they'll take two.

I'm curious because my snakes seem skinny to me. Not as meaty as other snakes I've seen on here.

    Thanks!

Go to rodentpro.com, then click browse products, then click on rats, find the size you want and it tell you in the description the age in days. Hope this helps

At that weight they should be getting a "weaned rat" every 5-7 days. Thats 10-15% of the snakes body weight. They dont look too skinny to me but do whatever you feel is best.

I agree about bumping up the size of rats.
I have a few 3 month olds a little larger than your snake. They eat weaned rats once a week.
You can also judge the size of prey by matching the size of the food to the widest part of your snake.

Only 3 months old and mine is 8 months and smaller... I must be doing something wrong! Mind you I got one in Jan and the other in Feb, maybe they were underfed before. Thanks for the advice, I'll be bumping the size up this week.

From you pictures, your snakes don't look skinny or malnourished.
It just sounds like they're not growing. Just staying relatively the same??
Either way, sounds like they're in good hands now.

Well that's good to hear, I was worried they looked skinny! Hopefully I'll see a change after bumping up the size!

    Thanks!
