    Request

I've read conflicting opinions about housing. Some say its best to house them seperate, and others say together is fine. What do all of you do?

    Housing multiple BP's together

Hmmm, preferably I suppose it'd be best for them to each have their own cage. But if there's room...why not. It can sometimes stress them out to be in cages with each other, but usually thats when you cram two in a 30 gallon. So you got to watch out for stress. And before you ever house them together allow a 3 month quarantine. Right now I have a yearling male in a 5x2x2 cage, and two hatchling females in a 20 gallon. In 6 months I'm moving them in with the male.

Typically it's better to house snakes individually outside of breeding purposes. No need to cross-contaminate if it's at all avoidable.

I house my two bp's together and have never had any problem. Ofcourse, I feed them in feed boxes away from eachother and they both get thier time out with me and the hubby...so I dont see why not house them together as long as there is room and there seems to be no stress that has developed.

As long as proper husbandry is kept, and feeding is done safely, it's usually fine. That is, of course, after a given ammount of time for quarantine. Of course it would always be best if you kept them separate all their lives. But sometimes it's a judgement call. When you're dealing with animals such as leopard geckos, you need to consider each one as though it has crypto and will instantly wipe out you collection. Because that happens all too often. But with ball pythons the dangers are there, but less likely to occur. If you have CB animals that you've had for years with no problems, it's pretty safe to assume it would be ok. But even with new animals you need to keep a close eye on them. It's a judgement call really.

BALL PYTHON EYE CANDY!!!! (Big pics!)

No....I don't think it should be done.

!.) Your snake can easily be stressed out no matter how long hes been fine with another cage mate.
2.) You dont have to worry about BOTh your snakes constracting a sickness. I.E. Ri's....IBD....etc etc.
3.)You don't have to move the snakes out when you feed them.

Many more factors but those are important enough to say.

    Re: Housing multiple BP's together

Ive always been a firm beleiver that you shouldnt house them together(mainly if there was a signifigant size difference) But I also work at a pet store where we've had to put 4 juvy's in the same enclosure for a month before. I personally have never seen it go poorly. There are health risks as they stated above, and ensuring the enclsure is large enough is just as important, but If youre fine with the risks(as few as there are) then I say go for it.
