Hygrotherm or Hygrostat?

Does anyone have a source for a budget hygrotherm/hygrostat? I know the new Herpstats have humidity control built in but I just bought the original one about a week before the new ones were released. I'd like to hook up a household humidifier to one once I get my PVC enclosure so my RH will be bang on.

Honestly I would just use a timer. Set it to kick one a few times a day if you are having issues keeping the humidity right. PVC enclosures are very good at holding humidity. I only have to boost it during shed in mine.

Yes actually most of the commercial ones are very costly so the herpstat humidity is actually cheap. I have a humidifier that has a target RH setting I just set it at about where I want it and leave it be. This is mine, it is great other than the screw on lid is easy to cross thread and then it becomes hard to get on and off.

That one seems half decent. The humidifier I have looks like its from the 1950's, but I may just set it up on a timer and duct it into the enclosure.

My humidity now stays around 52% which is a little low for my liking. It seems like it will be quite difficult to maintain 70% during shed in a glass tank.

kitedemon - Does that model have a probe, or does it measure right of a sensor on the machine?

No it is in the unit. It is reasonably accurate however only about 5% high which is actually a bit better than expected. It set the unit to 60% and the room goes to about 65% but the enclosures are on the far wall so they are a bit lower 60-63% I like it the issue is the filler cap is easy to get cross threaded and it needs to be cleaned often, but they all do so that is just the way they work. I really like this one. (owned 4)
