She was very photogenic tonight!
I had my girl out tonight to check her over for mites (PAM is in the mail, so I am just killing them as I see them til it arrives SOON, I hope) and I decided to take some pics because she was being very good! Here you go!
Zola, 5 1/2 month old female normal. She's a sweetie, never aggressive, rarely skittish. I have never actually EVER seen her ball up, brave little thing!
Firstly, I was extremely excited by this tongue pic!!!!
Standard BP pose you get in the two seconds between placing them on a surface and them immediately stretching out to find something to hide under.
Yes, I will be using this for a Valentine's Day card, how awesome is this!!
And last but not least, she gave me a little periscope.

Totally! She loves to peek out if I slide the door open while she is out of the hide for her evening exploration. She will crawl right out onto my hand if I put it in front of her. Adorable.

The mite problem is a complete mystery. I have no other snakes, she only eats f/t, it has been months since I picked up anything from a pet store. ALTHOUGH, my best guess is that they are wood mites. I bought some sphagnum moss maybe two months ago, and I didn't open the box and refill her humid hide til a few weeks ago. My best guess is they were living in the moss, so they would have to be wood mites. They don't really seem to be on the snake that much, I saw ONE crawling on her... I caught them very early though, I have actually only seen 4 and 3 of them were in the water bowl. Whatever they are, the are dying as the PAM arrives, but she ate for me with no trouble last night, so they must not be bothering her too badly. She has been a fabulous eater from day one, so not ball python like. She hits everything she is offered with such force that the tail will often break off in my feeding tongs. Nutcase. She struck at me closed mouth one time, I think because she just wasn't in the mood to be touched, but she didn't seem to want to hurt me either, just make me go away. The force was unbelievable, it was like someone smacked my knuckle with a spoon. She's spring loaded or something.
Glad you all like the pics!
