    shipping turtle in cold weather

i just received my pastel snapping turtle. im not sure if shipping turtles is the same as shipping snakes. here is how he came.

UPS dropped him on my porch without ringing the bell. its 32F and snowing heavily right now. the box wasnt completely sealed. there were two balled up pieces of paper inside the box. one under the turtle and one over the turtle. the turtle itself was placed inside a sock with the end taped closed. NO heat packs what so ever! i recorded the box opening and took temp readings with my temp gun. the turtle was 45 degrees with no movement. i put him in a small tub with a little bit of warm water. he is now active and roaming his tank.

should i be worried that there may have been damage? is normal to ship a turtle like this?

No, that is really sucky shipping. Fortunately those turtles can tolerate cold fairly well. I'd definitely put up a BOI thread about the seller though. There's no excuse for not doing it right.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?
