    Cat needs help

    Hey all,

I have been feeding he local neighborhood cat for a while now. I actually pulled him out of a neighboors motor when he was just a baby and even though I cant keep him, I have grown quite attached to him. It seems that for the past couple of months his ears have been getting like a hard crust on the tips. Today when he came for some food I noticed that they looked really bad. Its almost like scabs all over the outside of his ears, feels hard and crusty to the touch. Does anyone know what this could be and if I can do anything to help him out???

Here is a crappy pic, he was hungry and his little head would not stay still.

He is maybe fighting? Also could be combined with a infection.

I don't think he was fighting. It started mildly at the very tip of his ears and has slowly spread to the very base and its getting thick and crusty.

    Re: Cat needs help

Is it warm where you live - I've seen dog and cat ears get like that from flies feeding on them. It really should be seen by a vet to get some ointment. Not sure this is the problem but it sure looks like it.

Yes I am in south florida and it is very warm. I will take him to the vet and see what they say. I just wanted to consult with you guys here and see if there was an easy fix or if this was common in cats. I don't own cats and this one only comes around for food and some scratches but I do want to help him.

He was also dewormed, vaccinated, bathed and has a snipping surgery in his future. Ill take some pics of him later so you guys can meet him.
