Sorry on my phone so im trying to keep it short. It will house a uromastyx on the bottom, and my two BPs on the top. Along with the mice/rats stored underneath the whole thing.

Interesting, I think we need some pictures

As for sealing I've heard that a good polyurethane paint is best.

2x poly urethane I like colors in plastic personally it needs to cure fully at least 48 hours in a warm place with lots of air flow.

Generally yes it causes it to swell. Polyurethane is harder wearing and there is a lot of sliding on the shelf surface.

If you want the best of both a liner polyurethane cures fast and is rock hard it is inert when cured. It is also quite expensive I think about 60-70$ a quart. Great suff however one shot one coat it is two part and once mix it is going to turn to solid plastic and there is no stopping it. I have used the system 3 version it is a great product.

    Re: MDF Tips?

I only have a few crappy pics of it. But it will give you the just of what it will look like. I havnt finished the drawer system on the bottom half,...well most it isnt finished. Dimensions are 72"x50"x24". Have alot of wood work left, the eletrical wiring, the glass slides in the front. Port holes throughout for fresh air exchange, you know. The typical things you see missing lol.
