Meet Apep and see his enclosure!

Well, after everyone has helped me here I was able to purchase everything, get it setup, modifly temps and humidity and finally get Apep (short for Apophis).
The images in this thread are after about a week and a half of keeping him, I had just gotten a few more supplies in so I decided it was time for photos!

Here he is climbing out of the container I had held him in while remodeling his cage, he seems to love it on the top of the cliff.

Here he is chillin at the top, watchin me,

    Checking out his roof:

and finally one of the cage with the sliding glass in place:

Here is a little info on my current setup,

    55 Gallon breeder with sliding front glass, 36 X 18 X 18.5
    Great looking black stand
11" Heat tape on warm and cool side, controlled by seperate thermostats,
150 watt night bulb on dimmer (10" dome w/ ceramic socket)
36" repti-sun flourecent bulb and fixture on timmer
1 dual probe digital thermometer (seperate probes for warm and cool hides)
2 dual proble digital thermometers and hygrometers (seperate setups for each side to measure ambient temps and humidity) the displays all sit on top of the cage.
And all of the stuff inside of course.
Virosan always on hand for quick cleanups.

    A little about Apep,
alittle over 2 foot, 18 months, has fed on small live rats twice and doing fine!
    I love him!

Thanks everyone for all your help while I purchased everything!

    -Andrew

Looks awesome!! I think your tank is a 40 breeder though, my tank is the same dimensions and it's definately not a 55. I like the sliding glass and black frame, really looks nice!

    That IS a nice enclosure!!!

It looks like you put a lot of time and effort into the eclosure (and your snake wants to wedge himself all the way at the top....go figure). Can he get behind the gray backdrop? If so, that's where he will go. It seems like you got a lot of power for that tank....just make sure you don't over do the heat. The repti bulb isn't super important either......when it burns out, a regular flourescent will do the trick. (not trying to tear your nice work apart....just giving you a heads up).

Good luck with your snake Andrew.

Proud owner of a Male Ball python since January 10th 2005. He is my first snake. If I give you any advice, it is from personal experience and tons of research. I am in no way an expert.

All I know is that I spent way, way, way to much, I have alot of other supplies like larger hides, more fake plants, some fake vines, more flexwatt. I think the total was over 700, including Apep.

He does like to wedge himself up there, he also loves that branch, I do have alot of power in there, but it is a large glass tank, the temps are as follows:

    Cool side:
    Hide: 84
    Ambient: 82

    Warm side:
    Hide: 93
    Ambient: 84

The nice thing about all my sensors is that they record min and max on all the attributes so i can make sure it never rises or falls above set levels.

The humidity is my largest problem right now, but I have some plexiglass to cut to cover alot of the top screen, I also have a habba automatic mister that I need to setup, I may switch to a tropic air setup.

I did have a problem initially with him hiding behind it, but i used some rubber weather stripping to fill the space between the glass and rockface that the suction cups create (even though i counter sunk them). I relaized while i was buying it that i didnt need the bulb, but I wanted to see the difference in color temps.

Amazing set-up! You've obviously put alot of time, effort and thought into. Let us know how the mister works out. I was thinking of picking up one, but wasn't sure if it would fix the prob or not.

Thanks for the pics, they're great.
