    Rat food for mice ?

I went to the feed store yesterday looking for more mice blocks but they didnt have them in....all they had was rat lab blocks, the ingrediants are pretty much the same....but the rat blocks or MUCH cheaper, I could buy a 50 pound bag for only 20 bucks, where as the mice lab blocks cost more.

Could i use the rat blocks ??

I second that "Yes". Whatever is cheaper. The rat lab blocks may have more protein, which is good for the gestating and lactating mommy mice

I know, I can only get 30-35lb bags of the stuff. I ordered some from Harlan, the 18% lab blocks, was a 33lb bag, for only $10. Also ordered a bag of the Sani-Chips Aspen, and it was only $8. Hopefully it's a BIG bag

How did you order it? I thought you had to buy in bulk to get it from Harlan.

Chrissy at Rattius Maximus is making an order with a few people. It has to be at least $100, but that isn't hard with Harlan. There are a couple people on a rat forum that Chrissy owns that are ordering. They are picking the order up on Friday, March 25th in Houston. Here's the site: www.the-real-rat-community.com She should be doing another order in the next couple of months, but it's kind of hard to order stuff if you don't live in Texas. We pick it up from Chrissy's house.

Thanks Adam, it's good to know that it's a good-sized bag. I'm tired of having to go to Petsmart and get a relatively good sized bag, but it's just not worth the money right now. Also wanted to try something different for a change. Hopefully the rats like the lab blocks. I know the 14% is hamster quality feed, the 16% is for older male rats and the 18% is for younger female and male rats, so I thought I'd try the 18 and see how it went over. No harm in trying, right?
