    ID system

I don't know if this is advanced husbandry really or not but anyway. I am curious how those of you who use animal IDs in your tracking software go about labeling your animals. I currently use the morph and the sex of the animal. For example, if I have three Cinnimon females and two Cinnimon males they IDs would be CF1, CF2, CF3, CM1 and CM2. The problem with this is if I get calico or something I have to use CL or CO or something and it gets tedious. The other problem is for offspring if I want to know the pairing that produced it it would be a lot of letters to include both morphs. So I was wondering what you all used. Thanks in advance.

For my tracking purposes I spell the morph out completely and put the year they were born.

For example if I had 2 female Albino BPs born in 2009 (which I do acutally) then their IDs would be:
    09F Albino 01
    09F Albino 02

This works pretty well for me using iHerp as my tracking software.

I wish I would not have missed out on VYPER, weird how the company is just sitting on it. They must be allergic to money.

I was sad to see it go, and am still hoping they'll roll it back out. I'd like to pick up the pro version and start doing things with barcode scanning. Till then, making do with the regular version.
