    Heat Question

    My daugther got a leopard gecko for christmas should she use uth or heat lamp for heat

    They need belly heat so a uth with a thermostat is the most common/preferred method. A nice ceramic (not slippery smooth!) or slate tile holds the heat very nicely.

    Yes, you can use heat tape or an UTH hooked up to a thermostat to heat. Like the above said you can use tile or slate for a substrate. It holds heat very well, is attractive looking, and is by far the easiest and cheapest to keep clean. Home Depot and Lowes will cut the tiles for you, some charge a small amount per cut and other stores will do it for free. A lamp for a small tank will prove difficult to provide a proper temperature gradient.
