What do you consider low balling?

Curious, because I have no idea if I've been doing it... I was shown a snake (from a "Wanted" ad I posted) for $1300 and I offered $1200 on it. My offer/PM was ignored and the snake was listed for more with a "no low balling" warning on it. Oo

What do you consider low balling? I thought low balling was asking for 50%-60% off or something like that. Like a $1000 list price, offering $500.

Your thoughts? Has anyone ever low balled you, and what was the price difference?

Your offer was not considered a low ball. If u offered maybe $700 then yes. Other then that, the seller might not want to let go at your offered price and just use"low ball" as to refferring your offering too cheap...

Ive been lowballed before and usually the offer is barely half of what i ask.

Low balling is something you are bound to run into. I sold a male bee not long ago for $400, before I sold him I received 5 different offers all under $250, I consider those low balls. Negotiating is fine IMO but when you offer less that 75% of what the animal is worth than its insulting. Before making an offer look through other ads and see what those animals are going for, this will give you an idea of what a fair price is. If I was selling a snake for $1300 I wouldn't consider $1200 a low ball unless the $1300 was already an amazing price and I specifically said that my price was firm on the post.

I would not have considered that lowballing at all. I think, as said above less than 75% is getting in to lowball territory.

low balling varies from situation to situation but with that said if you ask for more then 15-20 percent off without a reason (several animals previous purchases ect) that is low balling
