    first bite!

    Hey Guys!

I got bit for the first time today by my female pastel!! Just thought i would share with you LOL! For those of you ho haven't been bit yet.. don't sweat it, doesn't hurt it's just surprising. It's my own fault! I was feeding live ASF and my girl (june) struck the ASF and dropped it. I quickly reached in to get ahold of the asf again and she saw movement LOL. She still ate though so that is the important part.

What is up with everyone saying they don't hurt?? Was it a baby? I got bit 2 weeks ago by a 2500g female and it still hurts! And it hurt like a mf when it happened. Her jaws are way stronger than i would have guessed.

    Welcome to the bite club.

Also depending on where you get bit it can be quite painful especially from a larger snake. My 600g enchi got me pretty bad once and it hurt for a while. Also my first bite was from a sub adult female and it was horrible and hurt for a few days.

95% of bites are just little defensive nips or feeding mistakes. Even the feeding mistakes aren't so bad, as long as the snake realizes it and lets go...

But I got my first serious bite this summer when I went over to a friend's apartment and was introduced to "Monty". Monty was an adult who'd been kept on a one-rat-a-month diet for two years because someone said he was "obese". And I had been handling exploded f/t mice early in the evening. He bit, he constricted, and he didn't let go. It was impressive. I still had a bruise under the skin a week later.
