    She's Finally Here!

Wow, I had no idea I would have to wait so long to finally meet her. But she is FINALLY here.

I named her Candy. I was trying to hold her up for pictures, but she very stubbornly insisted on heading straight toward my face. I don't know why she wanted to go there, but darn it, that's where she was going, LOL. That's why there aren't any pictures of me holding her. She was having none of it.

She was 61 degrees when I unboxed her, but she seems totally fine, and she's now burrowed in a nice, deep warm nest of pine shavings.

I don't mean to tell you how to keep your animals as you obviously have more than I do and generally I see that as 'more experienced/knowledgeable'.

However, I thought that pine and cedar ( not that you are using cedar ) were harmful to reptiles ?

I only have BP's so maybe I misread it to understand 'all' reptiles when it was referring to boa's and pythons only. I'm not very knowledgeable on other species, so every chance to learn is appreciated.

Very nice looking snake though ! Congrats on the new pickup =)

Cedar is harmful, but kiln-dried pine is perfectly fine. It's just a widespread bit of misinformation on the Internet, from when pine wasn't kiln-dried. I use it with my rats as well, and they have more sensitive respiratory systems, but they are doing great with it. I just don't use it with my ball pythons because they need higher humidity, so I prefer cypress mulch for them.

Edit: And thanks, lol! I'm very happy with her.

    Re: She's Finally Here!

Wow, I finally got to see that defensive display I've been waiting for!

She just shed so I went to pick her up and make sure there wasn't any stuck shed, and she arched back and let out the loudest HISS I've ever heard! Her tail was even vibrating a bit, though I couldn't hear it because of the bedding.

I had to drag my husband in to show him. That was just the coolest thing ever.
