    Question PETA and CL?

I have heard rumors that members of PETA were caught "rescuing" snakes off of Craigslist with the intent of releasing them into populated areas with the intent to increase public outcry against the herp community and gain support with the constructor ban.

Does anyone have links to news or other articles about this?

So far all I have on this is word of mouth and rumor.

I know that the pet section on CL in CT is just about null and void. Only 3-4 listings usually end up on the page daily and they are mostly from the same persons with last chance rescues. It's a shame that people can be so dumb. They worry about animals breeding, they should be more worried about themselves breeding.

There was a "dangerous" bp left on the side of the road, and a gator released/ recaptured in a pond in Portland.

    Re: PETA and CL?

Well, after nearly 2 hours of Googling through just about anything involving PETA, I found nothing about them adopting from CL to further their own goals. The only thing I found was some articles where PETA is pressuring CL to end FTGH pet ads. What I did find, was this little gem of an article, from a few months ago, on a PETA Watch groups website. The behavior of the snake in the article sounds exactly like a Ball Python, but once again, the accompanying "stock" photo is a little off the mark.
To me, the pictured snake looks suspiciously like a Dumerils Boa. Or maybe, it's the Ball Python in a Halloween costume...

This is not PETA, but API/Born Free, another radical AR organization that supports anti animal legislation has been called out and reported on in the media for staging false sightings, reports in N.C. several years ago:

Also the picture at the top of this article is perfectly placed under the headline: http://www.komonews.com/news/local/1...&smobile=y&c=y

Really? You had to corral that little ball? I laughed.

Yeah, I think 5ft might be a little optimistic too.
