I got this little guy from a breeder who says he's a Pastel, but i'm not sure. I'm new to having ball pythons and have been looking up pics to see if he is pastel and comparing but thought i'd get some input lol so any input would be appreciated thanks !

I'm no expert, but based on the blushing and the light color of the head, i'd say pastel.

    Pretty snake!

    Re: Pastel or Normal ?

Yes that is a definitely a pastel. With pastels they get bred so much that sometimes you see low quality pastels being sold, or at least this is what i've heard from another member here on bp.net; I can't say for sure that this is the case because maybe it's a bad picture i'm not really sure but I won't say that this is a low quality pastel. What I will say is that this is what a high quality pastel should look like. http://ball-pythons.net/gallery/show...hp?i=39672&c=3

    Re: Pastel or Normal ?

thanks everyone ! Good to know
He's a 2011, I believe he was hatched in june, so around 4 months. Will he get brighter as he gets older ?

Also he is due for a shed but he doesn't seem to be, his belly is pinkish and I have a hide of 80% humidity for him as well as the rest is 60% , hopefully he will shed soon and be brighter after that

Pastels tend to get more brown as they grow. If his belly is pink in that picture then is color is probably slightly darker than usual (at least that's how my pastels are).

it all depends, some darken, some get lighter, some fluctuate, only time will tell
