Caging question about my new hedgehog

I just picked up a hedgehog, my first.

    I bought a wire cage.

Turns out they climb like crazy!

But getting down is not as easy as getting up and I'm sure he was bound to injure himself falling, or getting stuck.

I made it so he can't climb for the moment.

What cage do people typically use and how do you prevent them from climbing?

Giant, plastic tubs are your best friend! Like the ones meant for storing Christmas trees. When I had hedgies, that's all I ever kept mine in. Some people have even cut holes in the side, slide in the giant, plastic tubes meant for ferrets, and connect several tubs to make a giant cage. Tubs are way easier to clean too.

Here's a link that shows the connected tubs http://www.mihog.org/cages/cage_directions.phtml

    Hope that helps!

You can weave fleece inbetween the bars depending on the cage. Or you can get some cloroplast and make an 8in tall or so wall.
Check out this site for all hedgehog things lol
