    Feeding advice

Hey all, I'm in need of some advice about feeding. My girl is a picky eater and has been more difficult to usual lately about feeding. She eats F/T and I switched her from mice to rats about a month or so ago. She was taking the rats well for a while but now not so much. Ive tried everything from feeding at night, warming the prey, dangling it in the enclosure, leaving it in the enclosure over night. She originally preferred to have the prey left over night then deciding dangling it was better. Now I'm just concerned about getting her eat without stressing her out Any advice would be appreciated Thanks!!

When is the last it ate? It just maybe your bp does not want to eat this happens and is normal with bp. My bp eats better when she is in her hide and is able to strike from in it. Maybe tey dangling it in front of her hide.

I also agree with the above post use ot try live prey. This will be my first week feeding rats so I am going to try fresh kill first, if no lick live prey it is.

I also have a post close to yours if you can find it. It has great feeding advice from more experienced bpers.

If it has taken rats I would stick with the rats. I was told to get them on rats when they are smaller. It is easiet to change them ad babies. There is nothing wrong with feeding live just watch your bp and dont leave the rodent in cage alone.

I had the same problem with my het pied female this summer. She was off feed took one mouse then she was off again for 3 weeks then took another one. I needed her on rats or she won't get up to size this year. So i got some ASFs and she loved those after about a month on asfs i got her on rats and since this time (about 3 months) she has only refused one meal. What I think made it easier is I would rub the rats with the asfs to get their scent on the rat and kinda trick her into taking it. You could try this or try rubbing mice on the rats hope this helps good luck.

I'm unsure of her age. I got her from someone who got her from a pet store If i had to guess I'd say about maybe 8 months to 1 year.

I just tried offering another rat at night and warmed up. This time she did strike at it but wont actually eat it. I suppose I'll try F/T mice again-its just so strange she's been eating rats for about a month or 2 now. If that doesn't work I'll try ASF. At the risk of sounding like a rookie (lol) Where would I purchase those from anyway?
I'm not so sure she would do well with live prey-She gets shy when anything new is put in her enclosure anyway. She's such a great snake-really tame just a pain in the butt to feed : )
