Do you Have a thermostat for that uth? If you don't, I recommend getting one ASAP.
Ambients are pretty easy to control. Usually just the uth does the trick. What's your ambient temps without the bulb?
    What's your house temps like?
A small Che works really well but it will suck humidity out if you're not careful. Ches need to be on a tstat as well just to be careful. You can out them on the same tstat. Just keep the Che dome in the middle or on the coolside. This will up your ambient if needed and keep unnecessary light away from the cage.

You really should have some control over the UTH unless it is a temp controlled one that will not get over 90ºF.

The need for supplement heat is really dependant on your room conditions, there is no exact set up just general principals that can be made to work. Your ambient room temps will dictate what kind if any secondary heat is needed. In my experience any room under 75ºF likely will need something else to keep the cool end and ambient air temps in a safe range.

    Re: Bp questions

You just need to check your temps and adjust accordingly. I do not use anything other than an Uth because this (along with a dimmer) suffices for my temperature needs. I do however use this bulb when one shows signs of sickness or i need to raise the temps on a very cold day. I do not use it alot at all. If you do decide to get one i recommend 50 watts or under. As you can see, mine is a 100 watt bulb and it is too much i will be buying a 50 watt when this one dies. Here is a pic. Sorry for the quality it is a quick phone pic for you of what i use.

Currently the house stays about 77 during the day & 73 @ night. Im also in Texas if that help matters. I have a 60 watt bulb that keeps it @ 80 with 50% humidity.
Also the night bulb also is 60 watt. Today he came out a small amount mostly stay in his hut,we did notice that he moved his water bowl to the middle where the light is.
I also have a heating pad under the tank.
