    Shipping ASF's

I think I have found a breeder in PA, willing to ship me some ASF's. He just hasn't shipped them before. If, i can find out how to ship them, he would be willing to try shipping them to me. I'm thinking 2 males and 6 females. Anyone have any ideas? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

They cannot be shipped live, you will have to get them vet checked then delta dashed, quite expensive

What she said..on top of that if I remember right delta has restriction's on shipping rodents. I.E. you can't. My delta contact said it was due to the havoc they can cause if they were to escape in the aircraft.

So in short on my knowledge live rodent shipments are a no go.

    Re: Shipping ASF's

    Hi,

Well given the amount of legislation involved in shipping live mammals and the extreme expense of it in relation to the value of an ASF I'd say both you are the seller are in no way advised to try and go ahead with this.

They would need metal, escape proof cages that would have to conform to some strict criteria in terms of ventilation and security. There would need to be vetinary checks - probably at both ends.

There would certainly be extremly serious repercussions for not following those laws as well.

You would be better off finding area herp shows, and seeing if any of the vendors sell asf's.

The lowest prices for shipping live rodents are in the $200 range, not including gas, and crates. You have to buy airline provided / approved crates, which are pricey.

Not to mention ASFs are illegal in some states, so you'd have to keep that in mind and find out if it's even legal to ship them.

    Re: Shipping ASF's

Thank you. I live in South Dakota and have very few choices when it comes to live rodents. Only show within reason was Minneapolis and the main sponcer was Rodent Pro, so no chance of any rodents there. Wish it wasn't so difficult to ship. Would like to establish a breading colony to feed my pythons.

The nearest one I know who sells asfs is near Chicago. If you ever go near eastern Iowa let me know, maybe I could sell you some.
